St Lukes, EC1

This is a set of photos I've taken for 'The Way We See It'.Eh? The what...

TWWSI is a weird London based photography project to which absolutely anyone can contribute to. Every couple of weeks the site lists a London street or place and all you have to do is go there and snap it! Simple as!

The current one is St Luke's in EC1. This is what they tell you:

"Another Hawksmoor this week - in fact actually one of his Churches. This one brings back memories for me of my time spent working in the area. When we say it's a Hawksmoor church actually it's only the obelisk spire and it's base that's by him. The rest is by John James.

For me one of it's most interesting tombs belongs to William Caslon one of the first type founders - who are still in business. In fact I've recently bought some type from them!

The building fell into disrepair and the roof became unsafe and was removed, this even though it was Grade I listed. Finally sense was seen and the building restored and made into a concert hall, rehearsal and recording space.

Have fun!"

And so I did!

I used to take part in it, before I had a computer, from July 2005 to early 2006; but the person who was loading/saving my snaps couldn't continue.

Now I've worked out how to add photos onto here I've decided to join in again. You're supposed to submit your own photos, but I'm not ready to learn how to do that yet, so I'm hoping that the site owner will be able to pick some from here....

I actually enjoy that, if truth be known, because I'm not submitting them personally, so it's a surprise to see which ones are chosen.

I visited two places today, the next I will post in a few days time. The first lot are below, and I must say I'd forgotten how much fun it was taking them. Sniffing out snaps, and missing ones I'd seen in my head, but the moment then goes! The ones I'm publishing here are about half of what I took for St Lukes, the rest I've deleted, as either too similar, or just not working out.

Enjoy-hopefully!
