Around Aalst

Some more snaps from the Belgian town of Aalst, which I visited briefly for a few hours in November 2008.

I can't recall what the buildings were though!

This old pub sign was above a bar that hosted this club.
So it said in the window, it was closed when I was passing!

I've not heard of him, but a famous Belgian painter apparently.

Belgian royalty remembered...

This was the train station.

Carnival at the Museum

This 'Stedelijk Museum' is in the Belgian town of Aalst, which I visited for a few hours at the end of November 2008. Stedelijk translates as 'City' and means the town musuem.
It is a small museum, with a small scupture outside, I guess you're supposed to sit & stare at it!
The ground floor is dedicated to the history of the town, with the upper part devoted to an exhibition on the famous town carnival. It looks a wonderful occasion, and I was so captivated by it I may even save & plan for a visit there, combined with football naturally, in February 2010.
